CRITIC'S CORNER: GRATEFUL DEAD'S BLUES FOR ALLAH

The album is the final batch of release from MFSL, take note that this is the final batch and this album has been rated as OUT OF PRINT.

This GRATEFUL DEAD album "Blues for Allah" was the final studio album made independently and Grateful Dead Records' distribution partner United Artists Records had greater involvement in the rights and publication for this album than previously as they released the album in foreign markets on the United Artists label. This was the labels attempt to combat counterfeiting and because UA was helping fund the completion of The Grateful Dead Movie in return for further distribution rights and the completion of a soundtrack album.

Ironic that Jerry Garcia endorses bootlegging in these times. Blues for Allah was in and out of print after the band's move to Arista Records. The amazing album was re-pressed in 1979 by UA's Liberty imprint. The album was first released on CD in 1987, after which it has remained in print. It was remastered and expanded for the Beyond Description box set in October 2004. A version was released separately in 2006 by Rhino Records but this new MFSL release BEATS EVERY release by a mile in sound quality.

Do not miss on this chance. The last batch stocks of the album only available at NEC.

Great album...and it will really benefit from the half speed mastering. Looking forward to spinning this classic. Now I wish they would remaster Shakedown Street.
